日本語では a と b の大きい方

注意

max{a, b} は the maximum of a and b と読む（min{a, b} は the minimum of a and b）。言葉で the larger of a and b（min は the smaller of a and b）と言い換えることもある。
AP Statistics の CED は、2 標本の t の自由度の範囲を the smaller of … and … と言葉で書く（topic 4.7・4.10）。
