定義
グラフのどの 2 頂点の間にも経路があるという性質のこと。そのようなグラフを連結グラフという。
Describes a graph in which there is a path between every pair of vertices. Such a graph is called a connected graph.
例文
話し言葉 If a graph isn't connected, it falls apart into pieces, and there's no way to get from one piece to another. グラフが連結でないと、いくつかのかたまりに分かれて、かたまりの間を行き来する道がない。
書き言葉・答案 Prove that a connected graph with n vertices has at least n − 1 edges. 頂点が n 個の連結グラフは、少なくとも n − 1 本の辺をもつことを示せ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 連結でないグラフは disconnected（not connected とも言う）。分かれた 1 つ 1 つのかたまりを connected component（連結成分）、または単に component という。
- 形容詞なので、英語では a connected graph ／ the graph is connected の形で使う。日本語の「連結グラフ」は connected graph。
- Levin の Discrete Mathematics は connected を 28 件使う（2.2 Trees 13 ほか）。
