2 つの変量の間で、一方が増えると他方も増える（または減る）という直線的な関係の傾向。
A linear tendency between two variables for one to increase (or decrease) as the other increases.
例文
話し言葉 There's a strong correlation, but that doesn't mean one causes the other. 強い相関はあるが、一方が他方の原因だということにはならない。
書き言葉・答案 Is there a correlation between hours studied and test score? Use the scatter plot to explain. 勉強時間とテストの得点に相関はあるか。散布図を使って説明せよ。

言い間違えやすいところ
- 「相関がない」は there is no correlation（no linear relationship）。
- 相関があっても因果関係（causation）があるとは限らない。
