CED topic 8.4(Finding the Area Between Curves Expressed as Functions of x)で扱う。

∫αβ(x−α)(x−β) dx=−(β−α)36\int_{\alpha}^{\beta} (x-\alpha)(x-\beta)\,dx = -\frac{(\beta-\alpha)^3}{6}

the integral from alpha to beta of the quantity x minus alpha times the quantity x minus beta, dx, equals negative the quantity beta minus alpha, cubed, over six

A shortcut used on some Japanese exams: the integral of (x − α)(x − β) from α to β is −(β − α)³/6, so the area between a parabola and a line follows from the leading coefficient and the intersection points.

I used a shortcut I learned in Japan: the integral of (x − α)(x − β) from α to β is −(β − α)³ over 6. Is it OK to use that on the exam?
