日本語は検定の名前。OpenStax Introductory Statistics は検定に名前を付けず、標本の種類（Matched or Paired Samples。節の名前）で呼ぶ。AP Statistics の CED（2026 年版 topic 4.4）は matched pairs design の差に対する one-sample t-test として扱う。paired t-test は用例コーパスには出てこない。

定義
同じ対象を 2 回測るなど、2 つの標本の値が組になっているとき、組ごとの差の平均が 0 かどうかを t 分布で検定する方法。
A t-test for data that come in pairs (such as before-and-after measurements on the same subjects): it tests whether the mean of the paired differences is zero.
例文
話し言葉 These are the same students before and after, so work with the differences: it's paired data. 前後で同じ生徒なので、差で考える。対応のあるデータだ。
書き言葉・答案 Test whether the mean difference between the paired samples is zero. 対応のある標本の差の平均が 0 かどうかを検定せよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 2 つの独立な標本の平均の差を比べる 2 標本 t 検定（two-sample t-test）と取り違えない。差を 1 つの標本とみなすので、計算は 1 標本 t 検定と同じ。
- matched pairs design（対応のある実験計画）は同じ語で実験の組み方を指す。
