大きさが 90° の角。2 本の直線が垂直に交わるとき、そこにできる角はすべて直角になる。

話し言葉 See the little square in the corner? That tells you it's a right angle, so it's exactly 90 degrees. 角のところに小さな四角があるよね。これは直角の印で、ちょうど 90° ということ。

書き言葉・答案 In the figure, ∠ABC is a right angle and m∠ABD = 27°. Find m∠DBC. 図で、∠ABC は直角で、∠ABD = 27° である。∠DBC の大きさを求めよ。

right angle の right は「右」ではない。英語版 Wikipedia「Right angle」（Etymology）は、ラテン語 angulus rectus の rectus（直立した・まっすぐな）の訳だとする。直角三角形 right triangle（エントリ right-triangle）の right も同じ。
図で角に小さな正方形の印がかいてあれば、その角が直角であることを表す。
「2 直線が直角に交わる」は、英語では形容詞 perpendicular（エントリ perpendicular）を使って the lines are perpendicular と言える。
