例文
話し言葉 The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other, so O is the midpoint of both of them. 平行四辺形の対角線は互いに他を二等分するから、O はどちらの対角線の中点にもなるね。
書き言葉・答案 Ray OC bisects ∠AOB. If m∠AOB = (2x + 10)° and m∠AOC = (3x − 15)°, find x. 半直線 OC は ∠AOB を二等分している。∠AOB = (2x + 10)°、∠AOC = (3x − 15)° のとき、x の値を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- bisect は動詞で、二等分する線は名詞 bisector で言う。角の二等分線は angle bisector（エントリ angle-bisector）、垂直二等分線は perpendicular bisector（エントリ perpendicular-bisector）。
- 「互いに他を二等分する」は bisect each other。2 本の線分がそれぞれの中点で交わることと同じ。
- 線分を二等分する点が中点（midpoint、エントリ midpoint）。「直線 ℓ が線分 AB を二等分する」は Line ℓ bisects segment AB.、「M は AB の中点」は M is the midpoint of AB. と書く。
