データの点と直線（や曲線）との縦のずれ（残差）の 2 乗の和が最小になるように、直線（や曲線）を決める方法。
The method of choosing a line (or curve) that makes the sum of the squared vertical distances (residuals) from the data points as small as possible.
例文

言い間違えやすいところ
