データの中でもっとも多く現れる値。度数分布表では度数がもっとも大きい階級の階級値。

The value that occurs most often in the data; in a frequency table, the midpoint of the class with the greatest frequency.

例文

話し言葉 The mode is just the value that shows up the most. 最頻値は、いちばん多く出てくる値のこと。
書き言葉・答案 Find the mean, median, and mode of the data. データの平均値・中央値・最頻値を求めよ。

言い間違えやすいところ

  • mode は電卓のモード（degree mode ／ radian mode）の mode と同じ語。
  • 最頻値が 2 つあるデータを bimodal と言う。
