データを小さい順に並べて 4 等分する位置にある 3 つの値。小さいほうから第 1 四分位数（Q1）、第 2 四分位数（中央値）、第 3 四分位数（Q3）。
The three values that divide the ordered data into four equal parts: the first quartile Q1, the second quartile (the median), and the third quartile Q3.
例文
話し言葉 To get Q1, take the median of the bottom half of the data; for Q3, take the median of the top half. Q1 は下半分の中央値、Q3 は上半分の中央値。

言い間違えやすいところ
- 第 1 四分位数は first quartile（Q1）、第 3 四分位数は third quartile（Q3）。lower quartile ／ upper quartile とも言う。
- Q1 は Q one、Q3 は Q three と読む。
- データの個数が奇数のとき、中央値を下半分・上半分に含めるかどうかで四分位数の値が変わる（教科書・ソフトウェアによって決め方が違う）。
