定義

物体の質量の分布の中心となる点。板や棒の重心を、モーメントを質量で割って積分で求める。

The point at which the mass of an object is balanced; for a plate or rod it is found by dividing moments by the mass, using integrals.

例文

話し言葉 If the plate is uniform, the center of mass is the same as the centroid. 板が一様なら、質量中心は幾何的な重心と一致する。

言い間違えやすいところ

  • 三角形の重心のような幾何の重心は centroid。物体の質量の中心は center of mass。一様な板なら両者は一致する。
  • 英国の綴りは centre of mass。
