定義
金属でできた円形のお金。確率では表と裏の 2 通りの結果が出る道具として使い、公正な硬貨では表と裏が同様に確からしい。
A flat, round piece of metal money; in probability, tossing a coin has two outcomes, heads and tails. For a fair coin, heads and tails are equally likely.

言い間違えやすいところ
- 表は heads、裏は tails で、1 枚・1 回でも -s が付く（The coin came up heads.）。「表が出る」は land heads up ／ come up heads。
- 公正な硬貨は a fair coin。「硬貨を投げる」は toss a coin ／ flip a coin（エントリ toss）。
- coin は数えられる名詞で、「硬貨を 2 枚投げる」は toss two coins、「1 枚の硬貨を 2 回投げる」は toss a coin twice。
