最適化問題で、変数が満たさなければならない条件（等式や不等式）。
A condition (an equation or inequality) that the variables of an optimization problem must satisfy.
例文
話し言葉 The constraint says x plus y is 10, so solve it for y and substitute. 制約条件は x + y = 10 なので、y について解いて代入する。
書き言葉・答案 Find the maximum of f(x, y) = xy subject to the constraint x + 2y = 8. 制約条件 x + 2y = 8 のもとで f(x, y) = xy の最大値を求めよ。
