日本語の「正の向き」は角の回転の向きの約束で、中身は反時計回り。英語では角の向きをそのまま counterclockwise と言う。the positive direction は用例コーパスでは主に数直線上の運動の向き（Khan Academy）。英国などの anticlockwise（英語版 Wikipedia「Clockwise」は Commonwealth English の言い方とする）は用例コーパスに出てこない。共通テスト・センター試験の問題文の「x 軸上を正の向きに」（令和6年度 本試験 数学I 第3問）、「数直線上を…正の向きに」（平成28年度 本試験 数学II・数学B 第5問）は座標が増える向きのことで、英語は in the positive direction（counterclockwise ではない）。
