定義
2 つ以上の分数（分数式）の分母の最小公倍数。通分するときの共通の分母に使う。
The least common multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions or rational expressions. It is the smallest denominator you can use to rewrite them with a common denominator.
例文
話し言葉 The LCD of 1/4 and 1/6 is 12, so rewrite both fractions with 12 on the bottom. 1/4 と 1/6 の最小公分母は 12 だから、どちらの分数も分母を 12 に直そう。
書き言葉・答案 Find the LCD of 5/(2x) and 3/x², and then add the two fractions. 5/(2x) と 3/x² の最小公分母を求め、2 つの分数式の和を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- LCD は 1 語として読まず、L-C-D と 1 文字ずつ読む。
- 最小公倍数は least common multiple（LCM、エントリ least-common-multiple）。LCD は分母どうしの LCM のことで、分母の話をするときに使う。
- 分数方程式（エントリ rational-equation）では、両辺に LCD をかけて分母を払う。通分（エントリ find-a-common-denominator）で分子にもかけ忘れないようにする。
