定義
式を計算するときの順序のきまり。かっこの中、累乗、乗法・除法、加法・減法の順に計算し、同じ順位の計算は左から順に行う。
The agreed order for working out an expression: parentheses first, then exponents, then multiplication and division from left to right, then addition and subtraction from left to right.
例文
話し言葉 In 8 minus 2 times 3, the order of operations says multiply first, so it's 8 minus 6, which is 2. 8 − 2 × 3 では、演算の順序でかけ算が先だから、8 − 6 で 2 になる。
書き言葉・答案 Use the order of operations to evaluate 8 − 2 × 3 + 4². 演算の順序にしたがって、8 − 2 × 3 + 4² を計算せよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 乗法と除法は同じ順位で、左から順に計算する。加法と減法も同じ。12 ÷ 3 × 2 は左から計算して 8 で、12 ÷ 6 = 2 ではない。
- 米国の教材（CK-12 Algebra）は、演算の順序をよく PEMDAS（エントリ pemdas）と呼ぶと書く。PEMDAS の M が D より先という意味ではない。
