- 話し言葉 話し言葉（講義）では積分定数そのものを指して plus C と言う。特定のソースに偏らない。話し言葉では constant of integration よりずっと多く、書き言葉にはほとんど出てこない。
定義
不定積分に加える任意の定数。ふつう C で表し、答案では末尾に + C と書く。
The arbitrary constant added to an indefinite integral, usually written as + C at the end.
例文
話し言葉 Every antiderivative of 2x is x squared plus some number, and that number is your constant of integration. 2x の原始関数はどれも x² にある数を足したもの。その数が積分定数。
書き言葉・答案 The initial condition y(0) = 3 gives the constant of integration C = 3. 初期条件 y(0) = 3 から、積分定数は C = 3 と決まる。
話し言葉 You lost a point because there's no plus C. +C がないから 1 点減点ね。
書き言葉・答案 Each answer should end with + C. どの答えにも + C を付けること。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 「ただし C は積分定数」に当たる英語は where C is a constant。OpenStax Calculus の解答はほとんど添えない（慣習差 constant-of-integration-remark）。
- 定積分では C は F(b) − F(a) で打ち消し合うので書かない。
- 口頭では plus a constant と言うこともある。
