日本語の「正の無限大に発散する」は、英語の教科書（OpenStax）では increases without bound と書くことが多く、diverges to infinity は少ない。式では lim f(x) = ∞ と書き、口頭では goes to infinity とも言う。lim f(x) = ∞ と書いても、極限が実数として存在するわけではない。
