三角形の 1 つの外角は、それと隣り合わない 2 つの内角の和に等しい、という定理。
The theorem that an exterior angle of a triangle equals the sum of the two interior angles that are not adjacent to it.
例文
話し言葉 The exterior angle equals the two remote interior angles added together, so x is 50 plus 65, which is 115. 外角は隣り合わない 2 つの内角の和に等しいから、x = 50 + 65 = 115。
書き言葉・答案 In △ABC, side BC is extended through C to point D. If m∠A = 48° and m∠ACD = 121°, find m∠B. △ABC で、辺 BC を C の側に延長した直線上に点 D をとる。∠A = 48°、∠ACD = 121° のとき、∠B を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 外角と隣り合わない 2 つの内角は、英語で remote interior angles（nonadjacent interior angles）と呼ぶ。
- 英語の exterior angle theorem は、外角が隣り合わない内角のどちらよりも大きいという不等式（ユークリッド原論 I.16）を指すこともある。
- 用例コーパスに exterior angle theorem は出てこない。IM では exterior angle が 5 件（Grade 8）あるが、定理の名前としては使われていない。CK-12 Geometry は 9 件（4.18 Exterior Angles and Theorems・3.6 Alternate Exterior Angles ほか）。
