定義
数や式の大小関係を表す記号 <、>、≦、≧ のこと。
Any of the symbols <, >, ≤, or ≥, which compare two quantities by showing which one is greater.
例文
話し言葉 You divided both sides by negative 2, so don't forget to flip the inequality sign. 両辺を −2 で割ったんだから、不等号の向きを変えるのを忘れないで。

言い間違えやすいところ
- 日本の ≦ ≧（共通テスト・センター試験の問題文、学習指導要領解説）は、米国の教科書（OpenStax）では ≤ ≥ と書く。
- 両辺に負の数を掛けたり、両辺を負の数で割ったりしたときは、不等号の向きを変える。英語では flip the inequality sign ／ reverse the inequality sign と言う（エントリ properties-of-inequalities）。
- a < b は a is less than b、a > b は a is greater than b と読む（エントリ less-than、greater-than）。
