定義
仮説検定で、データが帰無仮説のもとでは起こりにくいとして、帰無仮説を否定する。
In a hypothesis test, to rule out the null hypothesis because the data would be unlikely if it were true.
例文
話し言葉 The p-value is less than alpha, so we reject the null hypothesis. p 値が α より小さいので、帰無仮説を棄却する。
書き言葉・答案 At the 1% significance level, do you reject the null hypothesis? Explain. 有意水準 1% で帰無仮説を棄却するか。説明せよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- ふつうは reject the null hypothesis（帰無仮説を棄却する）の形で使う。
- 棄却しないときは fail to reject と言う。accept the null hypothesis（帰無仮説を採択する）は用例コーパスにほとんど出てこない。
