定義
xy の項を含む二次曲線 Ax² + Bxy + Cy² + … = 0 を、座標軸を角 θ だけ回転して xy の項のない形にすること。
Rotating the coordinate axes through an angle θ so that a conic Ax² + Bxy + Cy² + … = 0 loses its xy-term.
例文
話し言葉 The xy term means the conic is tilted, so rotate the axes to get rid of it. xy の項があるのは二次曲線が傾いているから。軸を回転してそれを消す。
