文字の右下に小さく書いて、何番目かなどを区別する数や文字。aₙ の n。

A small number or letter written low to the right of a symbol to tell items apart, like the n in aₙ.

話し言葉 The subscript just tells you which term you're on. 添字は何番目の項かを表しているだけ。

書き言葉・答案 In the expression Σₖ₌₁ⁿ aₖ, the subscript k is called the index of summation. Σₖ₌₁ⁿ aₖ の添字 k を和の添字という。

米国の講義の書き起こし・字幕（話し言葉）と教科書・講義ノート（書き言葉）で、言い方ごとに数えた回数です。語形変化はまとめ、「…」は 1〜3 語の空き。「数えていない」はその側では数えていないことを示します。
