- summation notation
- 話し言葉・書き言葉 書き言葉で最も多く、OpenStax Algebra and Trigonometry と OpenStax Intermediate Algebra が使う。AP の CED もこの言い方（topic 6.3）。話し言葉では sigma notation より少なく、ほとんどが MIT OCW。

- 話し言葉・書き言葉 話し言葉で最も多く（Khan Academy が中心）、書き言葉では OpenStax Calculus が使う。書き言葉では summation notation より少ない。

Σ を使って和を簡潔に書く記法。Σ の下と上に、添字の始まりと終わりの値を書く。

例文
話し言葉 Let's write this sum in sigma notation so we don't have to list every term. 全部の項を書かなくていいように、この和を Σ で書こう。
書き言葉・答案 In summation notation, the Riemann sum is Σᵢ₌₁ⁿ f(xᵢ)Δx. Σ 記号を使うと、リーマン和は Σᵢ₌₁ⁿ f(xᵢ)Δx と書ける。

言い間違えやすいところ
- センター試験（数学Ⅱ・数学Ｂ）の数列の問題は Σ_{k=1}^{n} のように添字に k を使い、OpenStax Precalculus（11.4 Series and Their Notations）も k を使う。OpenStax Calculus Volume 1 のリーマン和・定積分の節では i を使う（k・j より多い）。文字が違っても添字の役割は同じで、この i は虚数単位ではない。
