定義
各小区間で曲線を直線で結び、できた台形の面積の和で定積分を近似する公式。
A method that approximates a definite integral by the sum of the areas of trapezoids under the curve.
例文
話し言葉 The trapezoidal sum is just the average of the left and right Riemann sums. 台形公式の値は、左と右のリーマン和の平均にすぎない。
書き言葉・答案 Use the trapezoidal rule with n = 4 to approximate ∫₀² x³ dx. n = 4 の台形公式で ∫₀² x³ dx の近似値を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- Riemann sum の一つとして習うときは trapezoidal sum（AP の CED topic 6.2。話し言葉はすべて Khan Academy）、数値積分の方法としては trapezoidal rule と呼ぶ。
- trapezoid（台形）は米国の言い方。英国では trapezium と言う。
