定義
もとになる命題の真偽のすべての組み合わせを行に並べ、それぞれについて全体の命題の真偽を書いた表のこと。
A table that lists every combination of truth values for the component statements and shows the truth value of the whole statement in each row.
例文
話し言葉 With two statements you need four rows in your truth table, and with three statements you need eight. 命題が 2 つなら真理値表は 4 行、3 つなら 8 行必要だよ。
書き言葉・答案 Make a truth table for p ∨ ¬q. p ∨ ¬q の真理値表を作れ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 日本の数I では命題の真偽を集合の包含関係（ベン図）で調べ、真理値表は使わない。
- 表の T ／ F は true ／ false と読む。行の数はもとの命題が n 個なら 2ⁿ 行。
- 用例コーパスで truth table は話し言葉では少なく（MIT OCW）、書き言葉はすべて MIT の講義ノート。CK-12 Geometry では 35 件（2.8 Truth Tables ほか）、Levin の本では 74 件。
