定義
複素数 z を複素数平面の点とみたとき、実軸の正の向きから測った角 θ。arg z と書く。
The angle θ, measured from the positive real axis, of the point z in the complex plane; written arg z.
例文
話し言葉 When you multiply complex numbers, the arguments add. 複素数を掛けると、偏角は足し算になる。
書き言葉・答案 Find the modulus and argument of z = −1 + i. z = −1 + i の絶対値と偏角を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 関数の引数（f(x) の x、log の真数）も英語では argument。偏角の意味で言うときは the argument of z ／ the argument of the complex number と、何の argument かを添える（真数は argument を参照）。
- argument は関数の引数（the argument of the logarithm）の意味でも使う語。偏角の意味では MIT OCW（18.03）の講義と OpenStax Algebra and Trigonometry が使う。
- 極座標の θ（偏角）には名前をつけないことが多い（polar-angle を参照）。
