用例コーパスと参照（CED・OpenStax・IM・CK-12）には決まった言い方が出てこない（用例コーパスでは arithmetic mean of … and … の形も少なく、書き言葉には出てこない）。3 数 a, b, c が等差数列をなすときの b に名前はつけず、b is the arithmetic mean of a and c（b = (a + c)/2）と相加平均で言う。
