円の中心を頂点とし、2 本の半径を辺とする角。おうぎ形の弧の長さと面積は、中心角の大きさに比例する。
An angle with its vertex at the center of a circle and two radii as its sides. Arc length and sector area grow in proportion to the central angle.
例文
話し言葉 The central angle has its vertex right at the center, so here it's angle AOB. 中心角は頂点がちょうど中心にある角だから、ここでは ∠AOB だね。
書き言葉・答案 A sector has a radius of 9 cm and an arc length of 4π cm. Find its central angle. 半径 9 cm、弧の長さ 4π cm のおうぎ形の中心角を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 円周上に頂点がある円周角は inscribed angle（エントリ inscribed-angle）。同じ弧に対する円周角は中心角の半分。
- 中心角が a° のおうぎ形の弧の長さと面積は、同じ半径の円の円周と面積の a/360 になる。
- 弧の度数（エントリ arc-measure）は、その弧に対する中心角の大きさで表す。弧の長さ（arc length）とは別の量。
