弧の度数

見出しの「弧の度数」は学習指導要領解説に無い、本プロジェクトの訳語。日本では弧の大きさを中心角で言い、弧そのものに度数を付けない。米国の Geometry では弧 AB の度数を、AB の上に弧の記号を付けた記号に m を添えて書き、中心角と同じ度数で表す（長さの arc length とは別）。CK-12 Geometry は measure of the arc と呼ぶ（6.9 Arcs in Circles ほか、5 件）。

定義
弧の大きさを、その弧に対する中心角の大きさ（度）で表したもの。半円の弧は 180°、円全体は 360° になる。
The size of an arc given in degrees, equal to the measure of its central angle. A semicircle measures 180°, and a full circle measures 360°.
例文
話し言葉 The central angle is 70 degrees, so the measure of the arc is 70 degrees too. That's in degrees, not a length. 中心角が 70° だから、弧の度数も 70°。これは角度で、長さではない。
書き言葉・答案 In circle O, m∠AOB = 64°. Find the measure of minor arc AB and the measure of major arc ACB. 円 O で ∠AOB = 64° である。劣弧 AB と優弧 ACB に対する中心角の大きさをそれぞれ求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 弧の度数（単位は度）と arc length（弧の長さ）は別物。半径が違えば、度数が同じ弧でも長さは違う。
- 優弧の度数は 360° から劣弧の度数を引いたもの。
- 用例コーパスでは arc measure は話し言葉・書き言葉ともほとんど出てこない。IM Geometry は measure of the arc の形で 4 件使う。
