式と読み方
定義
0 ≤ aₙ ≤ bₙ のとき、Σbₙ が収束すれば Σaₙ も収束し、Σaₙ が発散すれば Σbₙ も発散するという判定法。
If 0 ≤ aₙ ≤ bₙ, then Σaₙ converges when Σbₙ does, and Σbₙ diverges when Σaₙ does.
例文
話し言葉 Compare it to 1/n²: it's smaller, and 1/n² converges, so this converges too. 1/n² と比べよう。こちらのほうが小さく、1/n² は収束するから、これも収束する。
書き言葉・答案 Use the comparison test to show that Σ 1/(n² + 5) converges. 比較判定法を用いて Σ 1/(n² + 5) が収束することを示せ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 極限比較判定法（limit comparison test）と区別して direct comparison test と言うこともある（話し言葉にはほとんど出てこない）。
