二次式を a(x − p)² + q の形に変形すること。二次方程式を解くときや、二次関数の頂点・最大最小を求めるときに使う。
Rewriting a quadratic expression as a(x − h)² + k. It is used to solve quadratic equations and to read off the vertex, or the maximum or minimum, of a quadratic function.
