定義
利息を元金に加え、次の期間はその合計にも利息がつくようにする利息の計算。元金 P、年利率 r、1 年に利息をつける回数 n のとき、t 年後の金額は A = P(1 + r/n)ⁿᵗ。
Interest that is added to the principal, so that in the next period you earn interest on the new, larger balance. The balance after t years is A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt).

言い間違えやすいところ
- compounded annually は年 1 回（n = 1）、compounded monthly は毎月（n = 12）、compounded quarterly は年 4 回（n = 4）。問題文のこの語句から n を読み取る。
- 単利（simple interest、エントリ simple-interest）は元金にだけ利息がつく計算で、複利とは別。
- 連続複利（continuous compounding）では e を使う式になる。
