例文
話し言葉 The geometric mean of 2 and 8 is the square root of 16, which is 4. 2 と 8 の相乗平均は √16 で 4。
書き言葉・答案 Show that the geometric mean of two positive numbers never exceeds their arithmetic mean. 2 つの正の数の相乗平均は相加平均を超えないことを示せ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- IM Geometry（3.13 Using the Pythagorean Theorem and Similarity）は、直角三角形の斜辺に下ろした高さが斜辺の 2 つの部分の相乗平均になること（3 と 7 なら高さ √21）を相似で扱う（geometric mean の語は使わない）。CK-12 Geometry（4.6 の練習問題）は、三角形の高さを the geometric mean で求めさせる。
- 用例コーパスの話し言葉は大半が The Organic Chemistry Tutor。書き言葉にはほとんど出てこない。
