名詞・話し言葉・書き言葉別の言い方 interval of integration

日本の「積分区間」は区間 a ≦ x ≦ b そのものを指すが、英語の授業と教科書（OpenStax Calculus）では、区間より両端の値を limits of integration（話し言葉では bounds of integration も）と呼ぶことが多い。interval of integration は用例コーパスでは話し言葉・書き言葉とも少ない。

場面で変わる言い方

bounds of integration: 話し言葉話し言葉で最も多く、Khan Academy と MIT OCW が使う。書き言葉にはほぼ出ない。話し言葉の半分以上は Khan Academy で、Professor Leonard も使う。
limits of integration: 話し言葉・書き言葉教科書の文章ではこれ（書き言葉はほぼ OpenStax Calculus）。話し言葉では patrickJMT が多い。話し言葉全体では bounds of integration と同じくらいで、書き言葉ではこちらがずっと多い。

定義

定積分で積分する x の範囲 a ≦ x ≦ b。両端の a を下端、b を上端という。

The interval from a to b over which a definite integral is taken; its endpoints are the limits of integration.

例文

話し言葉 What are the bounds of integration here? Zero to two. ここの積分区間は？ 0 から 2 だね。

書き言葉・答案 The limits of integration are x = 0 and x = 2. 積分区間は 0 ≦ x ≦ 2 である。

bounds は「上界・下界」の意味でも使う語。積分の話では上端・下端のことを言っている。
