話し言葉 x + y = 10 is a linear equation in two variables, so there isn't just one answer: x = 3, y = 7 works, x = 4, y = 6 works, and so on. x + y = 10 は二元一次方程式だから、答えは 1 つじゃない。x = 3, y = 7 でも、x = 4, y = 6 でも成り立つ。

言い間違えやすいところ
- 「元」は文字（未知数）の数のこと。英語では「二元」を in two variables と言う。
- 英語の linear equation（一次方程式、エントリ linear-equation）は、文字の数を区別せずに使う。文字が 2 つであることを言うときに in two variables を付ける。
- 二元一次方程式 1 つだけでは解は 1 組に決まらない。もう 1 つの式と組にした連立方程式（エントリ system-of-linear-equations）にすると決まることがある。
