平面図形を、その平面上の 1 本の直線を軸として 1 回転させてできる立体。円柱・円錐・球は回転体である。
A solid formed by revolving a plane figure one full turn around a line in the same plane, called the axis of revolution. Cylinders, cones, and spheres are all solids of revolution.

言い間違えやすいところ
- 「1 回転させる」は revolve … around …（rotate … around … とも言う）。回転の軸は axis of revolution（エントリ axis-of-revolution）。
- revolution は「革命」と同じ綴りの語で、ここでは動詞 revolve の名詞形として「回転」の意味。
