if a equals b, then b equals a
定義
a = b ならば b = a となる性質。合同についても、AB ≅ CD ならば CD ≅ AB が成り立つ。
The property that if a = b, then b = a. The same holds for congruence: if AB ≅ CD, then CD ≅ AB.
例文
話し言葉 We ended up with 5 equals x, and by the symmetric property we can flip it around to x equals 5. 5 = x になったので、対称律で左右を入れ替えて x = 5 と書ける。
書き言葉・答案 Name the property that justifies rewriting 12 = 3x as 3x = 12. 12 = 3x を 3x = 12 と書き直してよい根拠となる性質の名前を答えよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- symmetric だけだと、図形やグラフの対称（エントリ symmetric）の意味になる。性質の名前は symmetric property と property まで言う。
- 対称式（symmetric expression）とも別のもの。
- 用例コーパスにも参照（CED・OpenStax・IM・CK-12・Nicholson・Levin）にも symmetric property of equality・symmetric property of congruence は出てこない。K12 LibreTexts の CK-12 Geometry には等式の性質の節（2.13・2.14）が無い。
