(a + b)ⁿ の展開に現れる係数 ₙCₖ。n 個から k 個を選ぶ組合せの数に等しい。
A coefficient C(n, k) in the expansion of (a + b)ⁿ; it equals the number of ways to choose k objects from n.
例文
話し言葉 That binomial coefficient, 6 choose 2, is 15. この二項係数 ₆C₂ は 15 だ。
書き言葉・答案 The binomial coefficients in the expansion of (a + b)⁴ are 1, 4, 6, 4, and 1. (a + b)⁴ の展開式の二項係数は 1, 4, 6, 4, 1 である。

言い間違えやすいところ
- OpenStax Algebra and Trigonometry（13.6 Binomial Theorem）は (n r) を binomial coefficient と呼び、C(n, r) と同じ数だと書く。
- 記号 (n k) は縦に並べて書き、分数の線は引かない。n/k と書くと別物になる。読みは n choose k。
