Descartes' rule of signs
A rule that uses the number of sign changes in the coefficients of f(x) to find the possible numbers of positive real zeros: that number of changes, or fewer by an even number. Counting the sign changes in f(−x) does the same for negative real zeros.
Plus to minus, then minus to plus: that's two sign changes, so Descartes' rule of signs says two or zero positive real zeros.
Use Descartes' rule of signs to determine the possible numbers of positive and negative real zeros of f(x) = x³ − 2x² − x + 2.
OpenStax Algebra and Trigonometry が扱う。
