P(A ∩ B) = P(A)P(B)
Two events are independent when whether one happens does not change the probability of the other; then P(A and B) = P(A)P(B).
Getting heads on the first flip and getting heads on the second flip are independent events: the first flip doesn't change the second.
Determine whether the events A and B are independent.
A coin toss and a die roll are independent trials, so P(heads and a 6) = (1/2)(1/6) = 1/12.
