学習指導要領解説（数学B）は反復試行を、ある試行を独立に何回も繰り返すものとして書く。用例コーパスでは independent trials が話し言葉（すべて Khan Academy）にも書き言葉（すべて OpenStax Introductory Statistics）にも出てくるが、repeated trials はほとんど出てこない。Bernoulli trial（ベルヌーイ試行）は繰り返す 1 回 1 回の、結果が 2 通りの試行を指すので、反復試行そのものとは少しずれる。

同じ条件の試行を、各回の結果が互いに影響しないように何回も繰り返すこと。
Repeating the same experiment several times under the same conditions, so that the result of each run does not affect the others.
例文
話し言葉 We're flipping the same coin ten times, so these are independent trials, and the probability of heads is one half every time. 同じ硬貨を 10 回投げるので反復試行で、表の出る確率は毎回 1/2 だ。
書き言葉・答案 Each of the 8 free throws is a Bernoulli trial with probability of success 0.7. 8 回のフリースローは、1 回ごとに成功の確率が 0.7 のベルヌーイ試行である。
書き言葉・答案 A die is rolled 5 times, and the rolls are independent trials. Find the probability that a 6 appears exactly twice. さいころを 5 回投げる反復試行で、6 の目がちょうど 2 回出る確率を求めよ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 「独立な試行」（2 つの試行が互いに影響しない）は independence-of-events の項。反復試行はそれを同じ試行で n 回続けたもの。
- Bernoulli trial は 1 回の試行の名前なので、「n 回のベルヌーイ試行」は n Bernoulli trials と複数形にする。
