式と読み方
定義
aₙ が 0 に収束しなければ、級数 Σaₙ は発散するという判定法。
The test that says a series Σaₙ diverges if its terms aₙ do not approach 0.
例文
話し言葉 Always try the divergence test first: if the terms don't go to zero, you're done. まず発散判定を試す。項が 0 に近づかなければ、それで終わり。
書き言葉・答案 Use the divergence test to show that Σ n/(2n + 1) diverges. n 項判定法を用いて Σ n/(2n + 1) が発散することを示せ。
言い間違えやすいところ
- AP の CED は nth term test for divergence と呼ぶ（topic 10.3）。用例コーパスでは divergence test が話し言葉・書き言葉ともよく使われ、nth term test はほとんど出てこない。
- aₙ → 0 でも収束するとは限らない（調和級数）。この判定法で分かるのは発散だけ。
