線分 AB の延長上にあって、AP : PB = m : n（m ≠ n）となる点 P。m > n なら B の外側、m < n なら A の外側にある。

例文
話し言葉 Dividing externally in the ratio 3 to 1 means P is outside the segment, past B, and AP is three times PB. 3 : 1 に外分するというのは、P が線分の外、B の先にあって AP が PB の 3 倍ということ。

言い間違えやすいところ
- 外分点の座標は、内分点の公式で n を −n に置き換えたもの。m = n のときは外分点は存在しない。
- 線分 AB を m : n に内分する点と外分する点を直径の両端とする円が、アポロニウスの円になる。
