点傾き形
てんかたむきけい 近いが同じではないpoint-slope form

見出しの「点傾き形」は学習指導要領解説に無い、本プロジェクトの訳語。日本では数II で「点 (x₁, y₁) を通り傾き m の直線の方程式」として同じ式を学ぶが、形の名前はない。中 2 では y = ax + b に点の座標を代入して b を求めることが多い。
式と読み方
y minus y sub one equals m times the quantity x minus x sub one
定義
点 (x₁, y₁) を通り傾き m の直線の式を、y − y₁ = m(x − x₁) の形に書いたもの。
The form y − y₁ = m(x − x₁) of the equation of the line with slope m that passes through the point (x₁, y₁).
例文
話し言葉 We know the slope and one point, so point-slope form is the fastest way to write the equation. 傾きと 1 点がわかっているから、点傾き形を使うのがいちばん早く式を書ける。
書き言葉・答案 Write an equation in point-slope form for the line through (2, −1) with slope 3. 点 (2, −1) を通り、傾きが 3 の直線の式を点傾き形で書け。
言い間違えやすいところ
- 点の座標が負のときは符号に注意する。点 (2, −1) なら y − (−1) で、y + 1 = 3(x − 2) になる。
- x₁ は x sub one と読む。
- slope-intercept form（エントリ slope-intercept-form-of-a-line）に直すと、y + 1 = 3(x − 2) は y = 3x − 7。
