定義
「p ならば q」が真のとき、p を q であるための十分条件という。p が成り立てば q も必ず成り立つ。
If "if p, then q" is true, p is a sufficient condition for q: whenever p holds, q holds as well.
例文
書き言葉・答案 Being differentiable at a point is a sufficient condition for being continuous there, but the converse fails. ある点で微分可能であることは、そこで連続であるための十分条件だが、逆は成り立たない。
話し言葉 x = 2 is a sufficient condition for x² = 4. If x is two, x squared has to be four. x = 2 は x² = 4 であるための十分条件。x が 2 なら x² は 4 になるしかない。
