数列や関数の値が、ある一定の値に限りなく近づくこと。

Getting arbitrarily close to a single finite value, as a sequence or function does when it has a limit.

例文

話し言葉 Convergence means the terms settle down to one number. 収束とは、項が 1 つの数に落ち着くこと。
書き言葉・答案 Determine the convergence or divergence of the sequence aₙ = (2n + 1)/n. 数列 aₙ = (2n + 1)/n の収束・発散を調べよ。

言い間違えやすいところ

  • 動詞は converge（収束する）。「数列 {aₙ} は 2 に収束する」は The sequence converges to 2.
